Lei Song, MS

Bioinformatics software engineer

Lei Song joined Clinical Bioinformatics group in 2011 after receiving his Master Degree from department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech. He is experienced in data mining and machine learning techniques, such as SVM, Random Forest, Bayesian Network and their applications in genetics data analysis. His primary research has focused on informative SNP detecting, copy number analysis and related optimization strategies for next generation sequence data. As a Bioinformatics Software Engineer, Lei Interfaces with members of the Clinical Bioinformatics group and biological researchers to develop novel integrative analysis pipelines and maintain software programs for the Georgetown Database of Cancer (G-DOC), performing tasks related data processing, analysis, and information visualization.  He also uses his bioinformatics expertise to assist in data management and quality control workflows for ongoing projects within G-DOC and other projects/databases related to the U54 Systems Biology of Cancer program.
