Cancer Research

A major focus of our research is to analyze ‘omics’ data from patient samples to find novel  biomarkers involved in prognosis as well as markers that can be used as new drug targets.  Breast and GI cancers have been our primary areas of focus to date due to the strengths of our medical research in these areas.

The Innovation Center for Biomedical Informatics is working with the National Cancer Institute on several contracts involving data collection and cancer biology discovery using bioinformatics methods:

  1. Cancer Systems Biology
  2. Data Coordination Centers
  3. In Silico Research Center Excellence
