Translational Research

The ultimate motivation for biomedical research is to transfer promising medical findings to physicians who can provide new information about disease prevention, clinical trials, and drug treatment to enhance the care of their patients. When basic scientific research is taken from the laboratory and implemented within the clinic it is referred to as “translational research.”

The Innovation Center for Biomedical Informatics is working on four related projects toward the goal of translating research from “bench to bedside.”

  1. Clinical and Translational Science Award
  2. Georgetown Database of Cancer (G-DOC)
  3. Pharmacogenomics
  4. Vaccine Adverse Events
